The student came in with her head hung low.
Her eyes were on her shifting tennis shoes. I could feel the shame radiating from her young body. To her, this was yet another appointment that mom had set up for her.
She didn’t know why she couldn’t read as well as the other kids in her class. Or like her siblings who seemed to devour books faster than Oreos.
I spoke gently and invited her into my home office.
As I spoke about 3D picture-thinking, her eyes started to meet mine. Then they started twinkling. Comprehension dawned when she realized she already had a powerful, creative way of thinking that could help her reading and math skills.
Unfortunately, I have many clients who come in and have completely turned off or shut down their gift of strong 3D picture thinking (it’s like they don’t even know it exists) due to many methods not understanding how to use this skill when learning.
In just a few days of working together, we help clients rediscover their gift of picture thinking and teach them how to use it to their benefit.
Students are amazed at thier ability to use picture thinking as a way to learn!

1. Did you know gorillas sit like toddlers? 
2. Giraffes use their rear ends as pillows for snoozing! 
3. Wombats… well, let’s just say they’re unique – they poop cubes! 
4. Lichen is actually an algae that grows on trees! 
5. And who knew? Very few words actually start with the letter “X”!

We (dyslexics) only learn those things that we ourselves create. If we create something in the form of memorization, that is what we have- something memorized, if we create something in the form of understanding that is what we have- understanding, if we create something in the form of mastery, it becomes part of us; it becomes part of our intellect. When something is mastered it becomes part of our thinking process.
If we memorise something or we understand something we have created it mentally. In other words, we have created mental pictures or mental sounds for the thing. When something is mastered it isn’t just created mentally, it must also be created in the real world. Creating mentally, inside ourselves, the best we can come up with is understanding; it requires creating it outside of ourselves to master it.
No matter how thoroughly we understand riding a bicycle the understanding of it won’t keep us from tipping over the first time we get on the bike and ride it. We have to create it in the real world to master it.
The question is: how can we master a word? We can’t get on it and ride it around. But we can create it in the real world.
When we create the concept of the word in clay and then add what the word looks like and what the word sounds like we have created the meaning in the real world. That word is mastered.
